GM Chris Repka

Born on October 6, 1998, Christopher Repka is a celebrated Slovak chess grandmaster renowned for his early achievements and dedication to the game. Earning the grandmaster (GM) title at just 18, Repka became the youngest GM in Slovak history, marking a significant milestone in his career. His ascent in the chess world was swift, following his international master (IM) title in 2016.

Repka's competitive accolades are impressive and diverse. As a Junior European Union Champion and a silver medalist at the Olympiad U16 on the 1st board, he showcased his talent on multiple prestigious platforms. Representing Slovakia with distinction, he has competed on the 1st board at the Olympiad and numerous international cups, cementing his role as a key player in Slovak chess. Domestically, he has claimed the Slovak Chess Championship multiple times, winning his first title in 2017 and successfully defending it in 2018.

His achievements extend beyond individual competitions. While competing for the University of Missouri (Mizzou) Chess Team, Repka played a pivotal role in leading the team to victory as the University World Champions in 2021. His strategic prowess and leadership were instrumental in this global triumph.

Today, while Repka continues to participate in occasional tournaments, his primary focus has shifted towards nurturing the next generation of chess talent. As a dedicated coach, he imparts his knowledge and experience to aspiring young players, helping them reach their full potential.

When he’s not on the chessboard, Chris enjoys a variety of pursuits including playing tennis, reading, watching series, and indulging in good food. With a career that spans over 40 countries, Repka’s journey from a young prodigy to a mentor reflects his deep passion for chess and commitment to fostering future champions.
